A multi-year research project with the University of Saskatchewan building a database of academic research on social media and well-being.
Let's build a better future for the internet.
Is social media causing depression and anxiety? Is Instagram causing your FOMO (fear of missing out)? Is your sleep affected by using your phone?
In 2023, Ethical Digital began working with researchers from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan to create a large database of academic research related to social media and well-being. The first year of research was funded by Mitacs and Jill Wilkowski was the researcher. The 2025 research update was funded by Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation with Kamry Lutz was the researcher. Both iterations of the project were overseen by Maureen Bourassa, PhD.
The academic studies gathered from this research are used to inform Ethical Digital's blog posts, training and media participation.
