Indigenous Women in Tech
Who are we?
At Ethical Digital, we are changing the trajectory of the internet through digital marketing strategy, research, and certification programs.
What are we doing?
The Indigenous Women in Tech Research Project is a two-year project wherein our team will speak to 100 Indigenous women to better understand their mindset, financial, and skill barriers to pursuing careers in technology and to connect them with information, people, and resources in the Saskatchewan technology industry. We will conduct research, prepare and share our findings, as well as develop and launch pilot programs with our partners.
By creating new partnerships between Indigenous education facilities and the technology community we will spark a conversation that will lead to more Indigenous women pursuing careers in technology.
Why is this project important?
Only six percent of tech founders in Canada are women, however there remain very few women participating in the Saskatchewan tech scene. The Saskatchewan government has made the commitment to triple the technology sector in the next ten years (interesting fact: Saskatoon has the fastest growing technology community in Canada next to Waterloo). The number one barrier to growth identified by tech companies is finding a qualified workforce.
This project will identify a path forward and create the connections needed to allow Indigenous women to pursue fulfilling careers in technology and assist tech companies with their capacity and growth goals.
How can you get involved?
We are looking to connect with Indigenous women aged 15 and up with various educational and professional backgrounds.
